Trainee Baader Technician

Its part job, part Journey!

Talley’s is proudly New Zealand owned and operated. We operate five deep-sea fishing vessels with primarily Kiwi crews bringing the best New Zealand seafood to the world. Right now, we’re looking for a Trainee Baader Technician to assist in keeping our fishing factories operating.

About the role

You will be a vital part of the crew, learning from the Baader Technician and Engineers, about the maintenance of the Baader fish processing machinery, and all fish processing equipment onboard our fleet of deep-sea factory trawlers.

As part of the role, you will assist the Baader Technician with repairing and maintaining the mechanical systems of the Baader fish processing machines; complete daily job tasks to ensure the factory is kept running at optimal levels; and gain an understanding on the adjustments required to ensure that the desired conversion factors are being successfully achieved.

Working towards gaining a Level 4 Apprenticeship in Seafood Processing – Factory Trawler Technician over an 18-24 month period, with full training and on-the-job support.

You would be at sea for 4-6 weeks at a time, which means you will be working every day during the trip. You will be scheduled to one trip on, one trip off – and while you’re at home relaxing on your trip off, you’ll still be fully paid.
