You will contribute directly to plant performance by monitoring critical systems, maintaining accurate operational records, and ensuring compliance with food safety, quality, and health & safety frameworks.
This role is essential to maintaining uninterrupted production operations.
Our industrial boiler system operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year to support continuous manufacturing demand. You will be working on a shift roster pattern 4 ON 4 OFF, 12-hour shifts and will be either working on Day or Night shift based on the team requirement. A night shift allowance of $22.50 per shift will be paid for any nights worked.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate and monitor industrial steam boiler systems that support continuous 24/7, year‑round production, ensuring stable and reliable steam supply while incorporating planned and preventative maintenance cycles.
- Patrol, inspect, and verify the performance of plant and utilities equipment during each shift, responding immediately to any variations or abnormalities to prevent production downtime.
- Analyse boiler readings, water chemistry trends, and system performance data; document findings, escalate issues, and take corrective actions to maintain safe and optimal operating conditions.
- Maintain accurate written and electronic records, including shift logs, operational data, maintenance requests, and quality/inspection documentation required for audits and regulatory compliance.
- Support and comply with HACCP, Food Safety, and ISO 9001:2015 quality systems, ensuring all activities meet strict safety and traceability expectations for a regulated manufacturing facility.
For this role, you will need:
- NZ Certificate in Energy and Chemical Process Operations (Level 4), or Level 3 with commitment to completing Level 4, OR a minimum of four years’ relevant industrial experience with willingness to obtain formal NZ qualifications.
- Experience operating steam boilers or similar process‑plant equipment in an industrial or manufacturing environment.
- Strong understanding of water treatment, process monitoring, and plant performance optimisation.
- Ability to interpret instrumentation, analyse system trends, and troubleshoot operational issues effectively.
- Working knowledge of ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management Systems, ensuring all activities are accurately documented and audit‑ready.
With us, you will get:
- Great working conditions
- Training provided
- Generous staff discounts and perks
- Locations across New Zealand offering opportunities to move as you do
- Gear and PPE provided
