FV Janas 1st Mate

Its part job, part Journey!

Talley’s is proudly New Zealand-owned and operated. We run five deep sea fishing vessels with primarily Kiwi crews, bringing the best New Zealand seafood to the world. Right now, we’re looking for a 1st Mate for our deep-sea auto longliner FV Janas, which spends 9 months in NZ EEZ and 3 months in Antarctica.

You’ll earn great money on board our fleet of modern vessels, all with comfortable cabins, usually with an ènsuite. Most of our fleet also has an onboard gym, WIFI, and plenty of space to relax in your downtime.

We’re looking for:

- A positive attitude

- Honest, dependable and ambitious

- Have self-discipline and self-motivation

- Strong longline gear maintenance knowledge e.g. splicing, and problem-solving skills

- Minimum of two years bridge experience onboard a longline vessel

- At least five years of deck experience on a deep-sea longliner

- Familiarity with stock taking.

- Must hold a valid MFV-U Maritime Qualification (or higher) and valid Maritime Medical

- A strong commitment to health and safety.

- Current New Zealand Passport Holder
