Container Dispatcher - Motueka

Due to a retirement, a sought-after position has become available in the Talley’s Freight team based in Motueka.

About the role

We are looking for a Container Transport Dispatcher to join our Northern freight team based in Motueka.  This role is typically Monday to Friday and rostered on call weekends, with plenty of variety day to day.

As a Container Dispatcher, you will be responsible for:

• Organising the day-to-day truck movements of shipping containers to various ports and destinations, ensuring deadlines are met
• Operating our swinglift and CombiLift as required
• Some local truck driving from time to time
• Dropping off and picking up trucks and trailers from workshops
• Back up to the Freight Dispatcher

For this role, you’ll need:

• Preferably a background in either road transport or shipping
• An understanding of exporting containers – Customs and MPI requirements
• Knowledge of transport management systems - iCOS LIVE, EROAD (an advantage but full training will be provided)
• A good understanding of Microsoft Office - Outlook, Word, Excel
• Strong organisational, record keeping, listening and communication skills
• Initiative and the ability to operate independently
• Positivity and the right attitude are paramount
• The ability to work Monday to Friday + weekends on-call as required
• Class 5 Licence or the ability to obtain
• Experience operating a swing lift (an advantage but not necessary for the right candidate)
