Baader Technician

It’s part job, part journey!

Join the team on board the Amaltal Atlantis on a four-to-six-weeks-on, four-to-six-weeks-off roster. This critical onboard role pays a percentage of catch and works closely with factory management to keep Baaders, Trio and other factory equipment operating safely and efficiently at sea and in port.

As a Baader Technician, you will be responsible for:

• Maintaining and repairing Baader processing machines, Trio skinners and other factory systems.
• Diagnosing faults and completing repairs across electrical, mechanical, pneumatic and hydraulic equipment to keep production running.
• Setting and adjusting guides, knives, chains and tooling to meet product specifications, safety requirements and recovery targets.
• Completing preventative maintenance, machine logs, work orders, test reports and spare-parts inventory records.
• Training crew in safe machine operation and supporting external contractors onboard.

For this role, you’ll need:

• A Factory Trawler Technician Level 4 qualification, or equivalent technical training.
• Proven experience maintaining and adjusting Baader equipment on a processing vessel or in a comparable factory environment.
• Strong fault-finding, practical problem-solving and communication skills, with the ability to remain calm under pressure.
• A good understanding of vessel safety requirements, preventative maintenance and safe working practices.
• The fitness to work 12-hour shifts and live at sea in cold, wet, noisy and confined conditions.
